Debit Machine Paper Rolls
Most debit machines in Canada take 2-1/4″ (57mm) thermal paper rolls. That one width covers the handheld and countertop card terminals on our compatibility pages from Clover, Ingenico, Verifone, First Data and others, and it is the size VANTROO stocks as 2-1/4″ × 50′ debit machine paper rolls, from a 5-roll starter pack up to cases of 3,000. Thermal paper prints with heat, so there is no ink or ribbon to buy. If your receipts come from a separate countertop printer or a POS station instead of the card terminal itself, you likely need the wider 3-1/8″ (80mm) roll on our cash register paper rolls page.
Quick size chooser
- Handheld or wireless terminal (pay at the table, curbside, delivery, trades on site): 2-1/4″ (57mm) thermal.
- Countertop debit and credit card terminal with a built-in printer: 2-1/4″ (57mm) thermal.
- Clover Station Duo or a stand-alone receipt printer beside the till: usually 3-1/8″ (80mm) thermal. See cash register paper rolls.
- Not sure? Measure the roll you have now (see below), search your model in the Receipt Paper Compatibility Finder, or send us your model.
Debit terminals and the paper they take
Every model below has its own VANTROO compatibility page listing a 2-1/4″ (57mm) paper width. Tap a model for its details, or open the brand guide for loading tips and pack suggestions. The same debit machine paper prints both debit and credit card receipts, so there is no separate credit card machine paper to buy.

Using a Moneris terminal? Moneris has supplied many different devices over the years, so we have not listed models here. Our Moneris receipt paper page explains how to check yours. The same goes for any Interac debit machine supplied by your bank or processor: the model name on the label, not the processor's logo, tells you which paper it takes.
Debit paper roll packs and price per roll
All of our debit rolls are 2-1/4″ × 50′ BPA-free thermal paper. Larger packs cost far less per roll than the small starter pack, so compare the last column to find the best value for your volume. A single terminal at a café or salon is often well served by a 50 or 100-pack, while busy multi-terminal or multi-location businesses may prefer to buy by the case.
| Pack | Price (CAD) | Price per roll |

Prices are in Canadian dollars; the product page always shows the current price. Shipping is free on every Canada order, with no minimum, so a 5-roll pack ships free just like a case of 3,000. How to tell which size you need
Two checks will tell you whether a roll fits your terminal:
- Measure the width. Lay a ruler across the face of the paper, not the box. About 57mm (2-1/4″) means you need debit rolls like the ones above. About 80mm (3-1/8″) means you have a receipt printer roll.
- Check the roll fits the compartment. Width is only half of it. A full roll also has to sit in the paper bay with the lid closed and spin freely. Compare a new roll with the one you are replacing, and check your terminal's manual if the bay is small.
If the printer runs but the receipts come out blank, the roll is usually in upside down. Flip it so the coated (shiny) side faces the print head. For more detail, read our debit machine receipt paper guide for 57mm terminals.
Frequently asked questions
What size paper does a debit machine use?
Most debit and credit card terminals use 2-1/4″ (57mm) thermal paper. Check your exact model in the table above or in the compatibility finder, and confirm a full roll fits your paper compartment.
Is credit card machine paper the same as debit machine paper?
Yes. A payment terminal prints debit, credit and Interac receipts on the same roll, so one pack of 2-1/4″ rolls covers all of them.
Do handheld POS terminals take a different roll?
The handheld and wireless terminals listed on this page, such as the Clover Flex, Ingenico iWL series and Verifone VX680, take the same 2-1/4″ (57mm) width as countertop terminals.
Can I use 3-1/8″ paper in my debit machine?
No. A 3-1/8″ roll is too wide for a 2-1/4″ terminal and will not feed. Wider rolls are for receipt printers and cash registers; see our cash register paper rolls page.
Is the paper BPA-free?
Yes. All VANTROO debit paper rolls are BPA-free thermal paper, which suits staff who handle receipts all shift.
How much is shipping?
Nothing. VANTROO is an online store based in Calgary, Alberta, and shipping is free on all Canada orders with no minimum order size.
